Ministry can be an exciting adventure at times and very dry other times. Workers for Jesus are called to continue doing the good they ought to do regardless of the immediate results. As quoted above, God will produce a harvest and we will reap that harvest if we are faithful to persevere.
In our existence as a church from 2004 until 2010, we were growing much in our understanding of the mission and vision for the church. As much as we wanted to be about reaching people for Christ and helping believers grow, we saw very little fruit in those areas. We were struggling in our outreach efforts and in our efforts to raise up leaders from within the Church Body.
In 2011, God began to rework our focus and understanding (and is continuing to do so)! Some exciting things developed with outreach to younger adults. This became a catalyst for change in outlook and attitude even among the older adults. The church began changing from a dominant inward focus to an outward focus, being less concerned about safety and security and more concerned about reaching unchurched people.
From 2011 to 2014, we saw a record number of eight salvations. So far in 2015, we’ve seen five people accept Christ through personal ministry in the Church. This is very exciting as we move forward.
Please continue to pray for Hope Community as God moves us forward. We need workers who are willing to reach out to people in their spheres of influence. We need workers who are prepared to invest deeply into people. We need more leaders to handle the growth of people and to duplicate more house churches. We need all of us using our gifts to build into the lives of each other. We need boldness and protection against the enemy as he works to foil our efforts.
It’s been exciting to be part of what’s happening at HCC. I look forward to where God takes us in the next five to ten years.
